Meet Kevin

Attorney

Hi, I’m Kevin Jones.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably looking for a little information about me. Maybe you’re opposing counsel, doing your due diligence to see if I’m a real lawyer and how long I’ve been practicing (it’s okay, we all do it). If that’s the case, feel free to scroll down to the “At A Glance” section below—that’s the stuff you’re after. The rest of this page might not interest you.

But if you’re someone considering reaching out for help, let me tell you a bit about my story, so you can decide if we might be a good fit.

Built on Family Strength & Hard Work

I’ve been practicing law since 2009. That’s over 15 years of practicing law already (where does the time go?!?!). I have handled a wide variety of cases, including car accidents, wrongful death, employment discrimination, consumer protection, business disputes, and even legal malpractice. I have tried cases and obtained multimillion dollar verdicts and judgments for my clients, and have argued appeals at all levels, including the Missouri Supreme Court.

But the path to becoming a lawyer wasn’t always clear to me. I wasn’t one of those kids who always dreamed of becoming a lawyer. In fact, the idea didn’t even cross my mind until I was a sophomore in college.

I grew up in a blue-collar, middle-class family. My dad worked at the Ford plant, and my mom balanced raising four kids with building a real estate career. We weren’t rich, but our family was close-knit, and my parents worked hard to ensure we had everything we needed. Our vacations were simple—weekend camping trips to the Ozarks, where we’d fish, float, and enjoy evenings around the campfire.

Life took a turn when my dad was diagnosed with throat cancer while I was in the 7th grade. Like most sons, I saw my dad as a hero—stoic, firm, faithful to God, and always putting family first. Watching him battle through surgeries, radiation, and the aftereffects was tough. He was the breadwinner, and his illness left us uncertain about the future. But my parents never let us see how worried they must have been.

Family Strength

Thankfully, Dad made it through radiation therapy and was declared cancer-free, but he wasn’t the same. He was left permanently disfigured and lost the use of his saliva glands. This made simple, everyday tasks like eating and talking a challenge. But he was tough as nails and adapted.

And after he recovered his strength, he went right back to work at the Ford plant to take care of our family. Seeing my dad go through his cancer journey made me acutely aware of life’s fragility, the value of good health, and the incredible resilience of the human spirit.

Finding My Way to the Law

High school came and went, and one night after a football game, my football buddies and I met up with some of our team’s cheerleaders at a Denny’s to get a bite to eat. I met a pretty girl named Emily. She was beautiful, a year ahead of me, and the Prom Queen. I was too shy and intimidated to say much, but apparently, I made an impression.

Fast forward a few years, and Emily is now my wife, and we have five wonderful children together. When the kids ask how we met, Emily always says what stood out to her was how polite I was—thanks to Mom for teaching me good manners!

I earned good grades in high school and went on to Truman State University on a scholarship. I loved the outdoors, and the small-town feel of Truman was perfect for me. I didn’t play football in college, but I did pick up rugby—a sport I quickly fell in love with.

We were never the biggest team on the field, but we were scrappy and well-coached. Since we were a small team (in size and numbers), we had to leverage our strengths to win. For us, success meant mastering our techniques in set pieces like scrums and lineouts, staying better conditioned to sustain a high-intensity, fast-paced game that would tire out our larger opponents, and strategically targeting key defenders to force critical mistakes.

team success

Rugby taught me that the best team isn’t always the biggest; success comes from playing to your strengths, working hard, and being prepared. These lessons stick with me today as I often face off against much larger opponents in the courtroom.

College was going well. I was working hard and playing hard. I came home during the summers and worked at the Ford plant with Dad to save enough money to hold me over during the school year.

Everything was on track until I received a call that changed my life. Dad’s cancer had returned, this time in his liver. We knew the odds weren’t good, but he fought hard for nine months before deciding to go on hospice.

During one of our last conversations, he asked if I’d ever considered becoming a lawyer. Honestly, I hadn’t. I never saw myself as the lawyer type. To me, being a lawyer was for kids from wealthy, influential families—the ones who lived in fancy neighborhoods, had country club memberships, and drove expensive cars. But after Dad passed, I found myself thinking long and hard about it.

I spoke with the professor of my college Business Law class, and he also encouraged the idea. Looking back, I’m not entirely sure why either of them thought I’d be a good fit for law, and I probably should have asked. But in the end, I figured, “What the hell? Why not?” I was studying business, and I thought a law degree might help me climb the corporate ladder someday. So I decided to go for it.

The Law School Journey

Law school was a whole new ballgame. When you first get there, they say, “Look to your left, look to your right—by the end of the year, one of you won’t be here.” And that was pretty accurate. It was tough, competitive, and full of some of the smartest people I’d ever met. But I knew that hard work beats talent every time. So I spent long hours in the library, kept my nose to the grindstone, and ended up with good enough grades to land a spot on the school’s Law Review.

I usually wasn’t the smartest guy in the room (still not), but I outworked a lot of people, and that’s what got me ahead.

Discovering My True Purpose

During law school, I took a job as a clerk for a state trial judge, and it was this experience that changed everything for me. Up until then, I figured I’d end up as some kind of corporate lawyer, given my business degree. But a brief stint working in the corporate world between college and law school left me feeling unfulfilled—like a small cog in a massive machine. I couldn’t see how my work was making a difference in anyone’s life, and I started to question whether this was the right path for me.

Then came my time in the courtroom. Working for the trial judge, I saw firsthand how justice was delivered. I was tasked with doing legal research, making recommendations, and even serving as the courtroom bailiff. But what really caught my attention were the civil trials—especially the ones where ordinary folks stood up against powerful corporations and insurance companies.

These were real David vs. Goliath stories. I watched as people who had been hurt, wronged, or mistreated took on these massive entities. No one would expect them to win against such powerful forces—but they did. And it wasn’t because they had the most money or the best connections. It was because they had the truth on their side, and they had lawyers who were passionate, committed, and willing to fight for them.

And when justice was served, the connection between the client and lawyer was undeniable, marked by shared smiles, hugs, and tears that came in that moment of triumph.

That’s when it clicked for me. I realized that this is what being a lawyer should be about—standing up for the little guy, making sure their voice is heard, and empowering them to get the justice they deserve. I saw the connection between the clients and their lawyers—the trust, the respect, the gratitude. I knew then that I didn’t want to be just another corporate lawyer; I wanted to be the kind of lawyer who makes a real difference in people’s lives.

So, I shifted my focus entirely to litigation and trial work. I joined a well-respected firm and spent the next decade gaining experience in a wide range of civil cases, including personal injury, employment law, consumer protection, malpractice, and other cases. By 2021, I was ready to take the plunge and start my own firm. It was a daunting step, especially with a wife and five kids to support, but I was confident that if I put my clients first and did the work I was passionate about, everything else would fall into place.

And that’s exactly what’s happened.

Why I Do What I Do

Why I Do What I Do

Every day, I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. My goal is simple: to make your life better than when you first walked through my door. I only take on cases where I believe I can make a difference.

Most of my clients come to me after they’ve been wronged and aren’t sure what to do next. Whether it’s dealing with an insurance company that’s dragging its feet after a car accident or navigating the aftermath of a serious personal injury, I’m here to stand up for you and guide you on your journey towards recovery and justice.

It’s a privilege I never take for granted.

Personal Life

Personal Life

I was born, raised, and educated in Missouri. I’m married to my high school sweetheart, and we have five wonderful children together. I used to hunt and fish a lot more than I do now, but these days, when I’m not in the courtroom or meeting with clients, you’ll find me shuttling my kids to sports fields, theater shows, Taekwondo lessons, and more. To wind down at the end of the day, I indulge in a little Xbox gaming with family and friends (hey, it’s healthier than smoking, drinking, or gambling). I also love board games with my kids, concerts with my wife, traveling to new places, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
